APEC and Hunan University jointly held the Conference on Low Carbon Town and Physical Energy Storage in Changsha on the morning of May 25.

Well-known experts, scholars and scientific researchers from APEC member economies arrived in Changsha to enhance academic exchange and international cooperation. Project Director at APEC Secretariat, Lu Zhiwei and Senior Officer of the United State Department of Energy Winston K.H. Chow attended the conference and delivered speeches.

Professor Cao Yijia, vice-president of Hunan University, presided over the opening ceremony. Themed as "Physical Energy Storage and Low Carbon Town", the conference is distinctive and of noticeable significance as it conforms to the historical background when China adheres to the fundamental national policy of resource-conservation and environment-protection.

Large number of leadership from APEC member countries and international experts were invited to the high-standard meeting, which deeply promoted the bilateral cooperation between Hunan Province and related international departments especially China’s cooperation with APEC and the U.S. Department of Energy. The meeting further enhanced the international cooperation depth, exchange level and the sustainable development of the province and Changsha City.
