UHH boasts the longest history of Chinese culture study in Germany. Mr. Xiao talked with Dean of the Asia-Africa Institute Prof. Michael Friedrich and Director of the Department of History Prof. Birthe Kundrus. An agreement of sister-college relationship was officially signed, to establish long-term collaboration in the areas of talent cultivation and academic study. The two sides will send two batches of teachers and students to each other for long or short-term visits every year.

Mr. Xiao also visited Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin), and with Prof. Ute Planert from Department of History of Universitaet zu Koeln and Mrs. Imke Mees from Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne, to learn about history education and sinology study in Germany universities.

He exchanged views with Dr. phil. Shing Müller from LMU, an important sinology study site in Europe. He was impressed by LMU’s library, especially the books of Chinese history of philosophy, religion, ideology, and culture, and Chinese art and archaeology, which happen to coincide with Yuelu Academy’s research orientations. Xiao discussed about establishing a new long-term collaborative ties with LMU, and reached a preliminary cooperation intention.
