Pro. Han Xu Won ICACM Computational Mechanics Award

An academic delegation of College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering of Hunan University attended the 5th Asia Pacific Congress on Computational Mechanics & 4th International Symposium on Computational Mechanics held in Singapore from Dec. 12 to Dec. 13. At the symposiu, in-depth discussion and exchanges on recent development of the sub-disciplines of computational mechanics, and integration of computational mechanics and optimization, inverse problem, structure reliability and uncertainty and biomechanics.

Prof. Han Xu was invited to delivered a lecture on “Evidence-theory-based Epistemic Uncertainty Modeling and Reliability Analysis”, which was well received by participating experts. Prof. Jiang Chao and Associate Prof. Hou Shujuan respectively gave lectures titled “A Time-variant Structural Reliability Analysis Method Based on the Process Discretization (TRPD)” and “On Crashworthiness Design of Sandwich Panels in their sub-conferences”, demonstrating the research output of the university in the field concerned.
Prof. Han Xu was presented ICACM Computational Mechanics Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of computational mechanics. This award is conferred every two years on the scholars who have made outstanding contributions in traditional areas of computational mechanics. The other winner of the award, Prof. Li Shaofan, is from University of California Berkeley.
APCOM is a triennial conference of the Asia-Pacific Association of Computational Mechanics (APACM) and ISCM a biennual conference of the International Chinese Association for Computational Mechanics (ICACM).
APCOM and ISCM 2013 offered 6 plenary lectures, 24 semi-plenary lectures, 120 keynote lectures and 120 invited lectures, attracting more than 600 experts in computational mechanics from over 40 countries all over the world.
