Hunan University, Finalist for ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest

For the first time Hunan University (HNU) was on the list of the World Finals of 2014 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) which was released by ACM/ICPC Asia Director C. Jinshong (CJ) Hwang on Jan. 1. 

HNU delegation performed well in 2013 ACM/ICPC Asia Regional Contests, especially the ACgege Team, which was respectively awarded Fifth and Fourth Prizes in the sub-regional contests in Hangzhou and Changchun. It was the best performance the University has achieved since its first participation.
ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC), organized by Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), is considered the largest and most prestigious programming contest in the world. It aims at demonstrating college students’ innovation capacity, team spirit and the ability of programming, as well as analyzing and solving problems under pressure. It is held annually, and so far has been held for 38 sessions. As the highest level collegiate “Battle of Brains”, ACM/ICPC is dubbed “Olympics of Programming Competition.” 
ACM/ICPC World Finals offers a battlefield to 120 top programming teams from all over the world. 2014 ACM/ICPC World Finals will be held from June 22 to June 26 in Ural Federal University, Russia. 
In addition to Hunan University, other 15 universities from Chin are on the list, including Sun Yat-Sen University, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Jilin University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Renmin University of China, South China University of Technology, Hunan University, South China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University.
