The 2018 International Conference on Metaphotonics opened in Changsha between May 27 and 30. It was organized by HNU School of Physics and Electronics. More than 100 experts and scholars from the US, Canada, France, Israel, South Korea, Singapore, and China attended. They shared opinions on such topics as metamaterial and metasurface; non-linear optics; ultrafast optics; plasmon optics; micro-nano optics; and topological photonics. HNU Assistant President Jiang Jianhui attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
More than 30 experts from home and abroad were invited to give lectures, including Eric Mazur, former president of the Optical Society of America, member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, fellow of American Physical Society, and professor of Harvard University; Robert W. Boyd, an American physicist noted for his work in optical physics, editorial board member of Science and Physical Review Letters (PRL), professor of the University of Ottawa and the University of Rochester; Paras N. Prasad, professor at the University at Buffalo and internationally renowned expert in biophotonics and nanophotonics.
The participating international experts visited the School of Physics and Electronics, and had discussions about academic research and future cooperation with teachers and students.
