On July 15, the Symposium on International Educational Exchanges was held in Hunan University, Changsha. At the symposium, relevant authorities from Hunan Province and representatives of 8 institutions of higher learning within the province exchanged ideas on education and expressed sincere wishes for cooperation with 20 diplomatic envoys from over ten foreign countries including Britain and Mongolia, laying a solid foundation for the exchanges and cooperation between Hunan Province and universities in those countries.
Since China adopted the policy of reform and opening up, the education of Hunan Province has been opened to the outside world vigorously and continuously. The province has conducted educational cooperation and exchanges with more than 40 countries, sending altogether 50,000 odd persons abroad for further studies. Over the recent years, more than 3,000 international students from over 20 countries have come to universities of Hunan for further education.
The opening up of the province's education has been expanding with tens of Hunan-based universities and colleges engaged in extensive educational cooperation and exchanges with hundreds of universities in tens of countries, such as cooperation in running schools, sending students and teachers to one another, scientific and technological cooperation, and academic exchanges, etc. Middle and primary schools in the province have also established friendly ties with their counterparts overseas.
