On November 28, the Report of Green Development Index in Africa and China-Africa Green Development Collaboration (2024) was released in Abuja, Nigeria during the CAETE (China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo) Exhibition in Africa (Nigeria).
The report was co-authored by the research team of Hunan University (HNU) under the leadership of the Institute of China-Africa Economic and Trade Research Institute.
The report aims to integrate China-Africa concepts and experiences on green development from the perspective of China-Africa cooperation in eco-friendly modernization. It is designed to establish an indicator system that reflects the harmony between humanity and nature, scientifically evaluate the green development level of African countries, and fully showcase representative cases of China-Africa green cooperation, so as to provide references for further promoting China-Africa green cooperation.

Many distinguished leaders and guests were present at the ceremony, including Yu Dunhai, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of China to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Fang Qiucheng, president of the China International Contractors Association, Wang Weidong, vice president of the China Development Bank, from the Chinese side; as well as Said Ahmed Alkali, minister of transportation of Nigeria, and Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, director-general of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, from the Nigerian side.
Leaders that jointly unveiled the report at the ceremony include: Lai Mingyong, vice chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Political Committee; Deng Qunce, secretary-general of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee; Chen Zhongbo, standing committee member and director of the Population Resources and Environment Committee of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee; Luo Shuangquan, standing committee member of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, deputy head of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, and director of the Hunan Sports Bureau; Liu Delin, director of the Port Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government; Diana Chen, first Chinese-Nigerian female chieftain in Nigeria and chairwoman of CIG MOTORS; Xiao Hao, lead presenter of the report, vice dean of the HNU School of Economics and Trade, and executive secretary-general of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Research Institute.
Over 350 delegates from the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, HNU, the China International Contractors Association, the Nigerian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the China Development Bank, and the Consortium of the China-Africa Finance Cooperation Bank attended the ceremony.
CPPCC Hunan Provincial Political Committee Vice Chairman Lai Mingyong (2nd, R) and Prof. Xiao Hao (1st, R) from the HNU School of Economics and Trade present the report to Jaafaru Yakubu, chairman of House Committee on Nigeria-China Relations Committee.
