On March 14, the 2026 National Cross Country Championships (Round 2) and the National College Cross Country Championships kicked off at Anshang Grassland in Hefei, Anhui Province. The event attracted nearly 200 cross-country runners from 16 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country, as well as industrial sports associations, universities, and clubs.
HNU's track and field team sent three athletes to compete in the university division, securing two gold medals, two silver medals, and two fourth-place finishes. Among them, Ye Lingkai from the School of Journalism and Communication won first place in the men's 6-kilometer race and second place in the men's 10-kilometer race; Lei Chengxin from the Business School won first place in the men's 10-kilometer race and second place in the men's 6-kilometer race; and Tian Jie from the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering finished fourth in both the men's 6-kilometer and 10-kilometer races.
