The 2016 “Understanding China” International Doctoral Student Forum, the first of its kind in Hunan, was launched at Yuelu Academy, Changsha, on the morning of November 8.
59 doctoral students coming from 20 countries, such as Vietnam and Syria, and currently studying in five universities, including Hunan University and Central South University, participated in the forum.
The two-day Forum included a themed forum, visits to science and technology enterprises, and a Chinese history and culture tour. It aimed to give the international students a better understanding of Chinese culture, China’s economic development strategy, as well as positive impacts of China’s sustainable development on the global and their homelands. It expected to inspire students’ thinking about economic development and ecological environment.
The students went to Yueyang City the next day. They visited Yueyang Tower to experience its profound historical and cultural connotation, and toured the East Dongting Lake wetland to know measures on protecting migratory birds, and enjoy tea culture at Junshan Island. This tour gave them a personal experience of the sustainable development in the Dongting Lake Eco-economic Zone.
