The annual National Science and Technology Award Conference was launched in Beijing on January 8, 2018. HNU has one research project winning second class award of the State Natural Science Award, and another participating project yielding second class award of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Prof. Zeng Guangming's research on "new methods for remedying refractory organics and heavy-metal polluted wetlands with functional nanomaterials and microorganism" won the second class award of the State Natural Science Award. It has been applied in 51 wetland remediation projects in 15 provinces and cities.

Academician Chen Zhengqing's participating project "design and construction technology innovation and application of the long span suspension bridge in mountainous area" won the second class award of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
