Ma Kejian
Ma Kejian (Oct.22, 1933 --), a structural engineering expert, was born in Yueyang city, Hunan province. He graduated from Hunan University with a bachelor's degree in 1958, and studied steel structure and the mechanics of elasticity in Zhejiang University from 1959 to 1961.
Once served as the chairman of the Structure Committee of Guizhou Civil Engineering Society, Mr. Ma now is a member of the Prestressed Structure Branch of China Iron and Steel Association, a senior member of the Space Structure Committee of China Civil Engineering Society, the associate editor of "Spatial Structures" quarterly, a visiting professor (doctoral supervisor) at Hunan University, the Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Guizhou University, and the Director of the Space Structure Research Center of Guizhou University.
As the winner of the "Labor Day" Medal for Guizhou Provincial Model Worker (1994, 1999) and the winner of "Labor Day" Medal for National Model Worker (1999), Mr. Ma is among the first batch of provincial experts, one of the first batch of Investigation and Design Masters and the first batch of Honorary Core Experts of Guizhou province. He has been engaged in structural engineering teaching, scientific research, and engineering practice for 50 years while being the author of four monographs, the editor-in-chief or co-editor of three technical specifications for new-type structure system, and also the writer of more than 100 published papers.
The awards that issues for him total up to 76, including:
the third-grade prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology as the chairman of the project;
2 first-grade, 3 second-grade, and 6 third provincial or ministerial prizes for advancement in science and technology;
2 gold medals awarded on the National Exhibition of Inventions;
the first and the second prize separately of the National Creation and Invention Competition;
Hong Kong Ruziniu (a willing ox) Gold Globe Award;
23 national invention patents and 36 new practical patents
Mr. Ma has made breakthrough achievements and progress in such fields as the new-type prestressed steel grid structure, etc. All these achievements have been applied to engineering practice covering more than 1 million square meters, and have saved nearly 100 million yuan. In 2007, Mr. Ma was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
