The National Lee & Li Cup Moot Court Competition is hosted by Law School of Tsinghua University and co-organized by Taiwan Lee and Li Foundation and Lee and Li Attorneys-at-Law. Ever since its initiation in 2003, the competition so far has been considered as the most influential moot court competition throughout mainland of China. According to the organizing form of the competition, each province and municipality is invited to assign a representative team to attend the competition every year. Most of its judges are legal scholars and experts in China.

The competition, simulating real court proceeding based on an assigned case, is to examine the law students’ capacity of interpretation and analysis on cases, understanding and application of laws, debate skills, and rapid response ability, so as to provide the students with opportunities to experience and get familiar with legal practice.

HNU team for this competition consists of Yang Tian (junior), Ning Zitong (senior), Zhu Bohui (senior), Fu Yun (senior), Niu Yinxiu (senior) and Chen Qingshi (sophomore) from Law School. Before entering the competition, they had devoted to simulation-based professional trainings for nearly half a year under the guidance of Law School teachers like Yuan Tanzhi, Li Xiaoling and Deng Xiangrui.

Thanks to the adequate preparations as well as good grasping of case facts and solid theoretical foundation, HNU team members kept calm and gave perfect performance. Even confronting an unexpected change of competition rules in quarter-finals and semi-finals by the judges, they promptly adjusted their debate methods accordingly, and probed thoroughly into the case, which impressed the judges deeply.

Finally, the team of Shandong University won the championship. China University of Political Science and Law got the second prize, and Hunan University and Sun Yat-Sen University finished third simultaneously.
