The “Xiaoxiang Eagle” Team from Hunan University released its new energy-saving vehicle on October 8. This new-designed vehicle boasts a low fuel consumption of 150-500 km per litre, and is set to present at the 2013 HONDA China Energy-saving Contest.
With the length, width and height being 2.836 m, 0.762 m, and 0.555 m respectively, this mini-scale vehicle weighs just 50.5 kg. It looks like a sky-blue drop of water with a streamline bullet-shaped body. Recent test shows that its fuel consumption can reach 500 km/litre.
“We redesigned the vehicle model and lowered the drag coefficient to 0.11, just half of that of the ordinary family car”, the chief engineer Da Xingpeng introduced. “As an energy-saving fuel vehicle, it has been greatly improved.”
Formed in 2007 when the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering of Hunan University debuted in the 1st HONDA Energy-saving Contest, the “Xiaoxiang Eagle” is going to make its fifth participation of the contest.
