Yangdu Research Center Set Up in Hunan University

Yangdu Research Center was found in Hunan University on the morning of Sept. 27. Yang Du’s oldest grandson Yang Youlong, and Zhang Dingguo, deputy director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Province present at the founding ceremony.

Yang Du, born in Xiangtan County of Hunan Province, is considered as a legendary figure in modern history of China. Under the instruction of the master of Chinese culture Wang Kaiyun, Yang had read a lot about Chinese classics and history. He advocated constitutional monarchy in his early years, and then supported Sun Yat-sen’s three doctrines of Nationalism, Democracy and Livelihood. He joined the Communist Party of China in his late years. Yang’s family fostered lots of outstanding talents, most of which live overseas and gained remarkable achievements in certain fields. Mr. Yang Youlong, Yang Du’s oldest grandson, donated to build a large statue of Yang Du in the Yuhu Park in Xiangtan City, and contributed half-length bronze statue of Yang Du as well as his masterpieces, the works studying Yang Du, and Yang Du’s calligraphy and seals to the library of Hunan University.
Zhang Dingguo pledged supports of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Province for the Yangdu Research Center, to attract and guide overseas Chinese to participate in and further contribute to the substantial achievement of Yangdu studies.
