Party Secretary of Hunan University Liu Keli (3rd L) is briefing Executive Vice Governor of Hunan Province Yu Laishan (2nd R) on site selection of the Supercomputing Center.
On the morning of June 29, Yu Laishan, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial CPC Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, came to Hunan University for investigation, the selected site of the Supercomputing Center (hereafter referred to as center).
Adopting the innovative model of "government leadership, cooperation between military and civilian sectors, joint construction of provincial government and university, market operation" and relying on technical strength and personnel of National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), the center chooses Hunan University as its settlement. The plan, with the short-term goal of 300 trillion per second and long-term goal of 1,000 trillion per second, will be carried out step by step.
Yu emphasized that the center should be designed and constructed from the international perspective with cutting edge technologies. Specialized expert panel should be established, and the role of NUDT, Hunan University and other universities should be given full play. From software and hardware guarantee, R & D and application to architectural appearance and inner function, the entire process should be designed meticulously and checked stringently, striving to forge the center into a name card of Hunan’s opening up and a landmark building of Changsha.
