Traditional Chinese Architecture and Its Cultural Conditions, written by Liu Su, professor of HNU School of Architecture and Planning, was recently translated and published by Universitas, a famous Polish publishing agency. The book was firstly published by the Tsinghua University Press in 2014, and included in China's "Silk Road Book Project" under the national Belt and Road Initiative in 2021.
The book focuses on the relationship between ancient Chinese architecture and various cultural forms, revealing the cultural connotations and cultural background of architectures in a more thorough manner, compared with the previous works about Chinese architecture history and traditional architecture. In the book, the writer quoted a large number of historical facts and architectural examples, and explained various cultural phenomena in architecture with images and in simple terms. The content of the book goes beyond mere architectural aspects, and considers architecture as an embodiment of culture and art. It will be inspiring to improve cultural quality of the public and promote the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage.
The "Silk Road Book Project" is the only major project in the press and publishing industry that is associated with the national Belt and Road Initiative. It selects the most representative domestic academic masterpieces for translation and publication in Belt and Road countries, aiming to introduce and promote traditional Chinese culture.
