The “Child-friendly Community” International Student Design Workshop, organized by the HNU School of Architecture, concluded recently. It was a part of the Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese Mainland university exchange program initiated by the Ministry of Education. Students from HNU, University of Hong Kong (HKU), and Chiba University of Japan worked together on child-friendly design.
The 11-day workshop has three parts: field survey; project design; and, real space construction and outcome show. Participants were divided into five groups, surveying the Fengquan Gujing Residential Community residents on Changsha history and traditional culture. Instructors gave lectures and guided the groups to improve their designs. These designs were displayed at the community, which were applauded by the residents.
A Child-friendly City (Community) Academic Exchange Conference was later held in Changsha.
