The second Traditional Chinese Culture Ceremony for Global Chinese raised its curtain at the Palace Museum, Beijing on May 19, 2016. The summit of “Civilization Reconstruction: Mission and Challenge for Traditional Chinese Culture Dissemination” was also held that afternoon.
The Ceremony will last from this May to late October, calling for participation of global scholars, academic institutions, media, and netizens to nominate for the Global Chinese Traditional Culture Awards. A series of Chinese traditional culture-themed activities will be launched, including cultural lectures and salons, Confucius memorial ceremony, traditional music festival, and public service activities. The award ceremony will be held late October at Yuelu Academy of Hunan University, the oldest and the 1040-year-old institution of higher education that still operates in China.
The event is co-hosted by Yuelu Academy of Hunan University, ifeng.com, and Phoenix TV. Famous scholars Du Weiming, Liu Mengxi, and Chenlai, Secretary of the CPC Hunan University Committee Jiang Changzhong, Dean of Yuelu Academy Xiao Yongming, President and Vice President of Phoenix New Media Li Ya and Zou Ming, and representatives from eight supporting cultural societies announced the opening of the event. More than 300 scholars, cultural personages, business elites, and media representatives attended the opening ceremony.
