A Colorado State University (CSU) delegation visited Hunan University (HNU) for a three-week summer camp from May 18 to June 8, 2016. The delegation consisted of two engineering professors and nine students majoring in chemical biology engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering science, civil engineering, chemistry, and biochemistry.
The summer camp was organized mainly in forms of engineering lectures, and project field visit. Chinese language and culture courses, and cultural tours were arranged. HNU designated prominent young teachers to give engineering lectures in English, and organized CSU and HNU student communicating.
The students were organized to visit Broad Group, Zoomlion, and some leading innovative manufactures, and toured the Orange Isle, Hunan Embroidery Museum, Changsha Municipal Museum, Changsha Municipal Library, Changsha Urban Planning Hall, and Changsha Concert Hall, and also went to Zhangjiajie to appreciate the fascinating natural landscape there.
HNU and CSU officially began cooperation in 1999, and co-built a Confucius Institute three years later. The cooperation covers 2+2 undergraduate program, and water research program. HNU sends several Chinese language teachers and volunteers to CSU each year, which will give a boost to educational and research collaboration between the two universities, and further, be contributive to disseminating Chinese culture, and carrying out the government’s “Belt and Road” initiative.
