The 2021 Formula Student China (FSC) held an awarding ceremony recently. The HNU racing team won first prize by total scores in both the Formula Student Combustion China (FSCC) and the Formula Student Electric China (FSEC), and two individual awards of FSCC respectively for outstanding modelling and aerodynamics design.
The HNU racing team has more than 200 student members in different majors and from different colleges, including the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, College of Electrical and Information Engineering, College of Journalism and Communication, College of Biology, School of Design, and College of Finance and Statistics.
HNU electrical car adopted four-wheel distributed drive, self-developed electronic differential system and torque distribution algorithm, carbon fiber composite monocoque body, self-made wheel-side planetary gear reducer, and a full set of aerodynamics kits.
HNU combustion car adopted carbon fiber monocoque and steel tube truss rear frame body, self-developed linear torque and downshift oil charge technology based on electronic throttle valve, wireless data transmission technology, multifunction steering wheel, ventilation and heat dissipation structure for brake disc, dry sump oil system, and electric paddle shift system.
The offline events of the 2021 FSC was suspended due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The FSC secretariat and the rule committee jointly decided to pioneer online presentations instead.
The Formula Student is a discipline competition for college students around the world. More than 20 countries organized the competition, including Germany, U.S.A, Japan, UK, France, Brazil, South Korea, and Austria. The FSC was initiated in 2009. It is a competition-based platform for cultivating innovative talents for auto industry. According to the Analysis Report of Competitions of National University Students (2021) published by the China Association of Higher Education, the FSC made the list of the Key Competitions for Observation in 2022.
