The Opening Ceremony of 2012 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American High School Students was held in Hunan University on July 12. Chen Shou, vice president of Hunan University attended the ceremony.

The campus provides multi-cultural experience for HNU students and helps the American youth understand better Chinese culture and improve their Chinese language competence, and furthermore plays an accelerative role to Sino-American youth friendship.

The teacher and student representatives of the delegation Samantha and Olivia respectively addressed the opening ceremony, and expressed their appreciation to the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language and Hunan University as organizers of the event.

The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American High School Students, coorganized by the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, the Headquarter of Confucius Institute and Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University (CICSU) of America, is a project launched in every summer vacation for American high school students to experience Chinese language and culture. The project, started in 2007, has attracted over 100 American high school students visiting China. And over 30 teachers and students from several high schools in America are involved this time.

During the camp period, the students will watch the competition of Chinese Bridge, visit beautiful campuses, get Chinese training, experience Chinese family life and take part in colorful culture exchange activities, thus to get deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture from various aspects.
