Hunan University, together with various social sectors, sets up an open, multi-channel and multi-level service mechanism to extend its service chain. It has established extensive cooperation in succession with some industrial parks such as Changsha Economic Development Zone, Changsha High-tech Zone and Suzhou Industrial Park, and dozens of key enterprises inside and outside Hunan Province including Chang'an Auto, Chery Auto, GM-Wuling, Changfeng Group, Valin Group, Zoomlion, Sany, China Tobacco Hunan Industrial Corporation, SINOPEC Baling, Wuhan Heavy Duty Machine Tool Group Corporation (WZ), SINOPEC Yueyang, Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Corporation Ltd (XEMC) and TBEA Hengyang Transformer Co., Ltd. It has also set up joint research centers (laboratories), post-doctoral research centers, academician research offices, technology achievements incubating bases and industry-education-research strategic alliances. In December, 2008, Hunan University joined in four strategic innovation alliances of technology consisting of 42 enterprises, 11 national first-class universities, and 7 key research institutes.
In 2009, Hunan University signed cooperation agreements of technological strategic innovation alliance in the fields of 5 industries including manganese industry, photoelectric industry and coal mine electromechanical industry with key enterprises in Xiangxi Prefecture, Changde City and Loudi City. Furthermore, it has developed a profound cooperation among enterprises, colleges and research institutes in the fields of automotive complete vehicles, automobile key assembly and spare parts, high efficiency grinding, new power transmission and transformation technology and equipment, light rail transit, wind power technology, DC power station technology, electrical control of energy efficiency, and bio-technology, which accelerates the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into actual productivity.
Hunan University is always active in participating in the provincial and ministerial level industry-education-research cooperation with Guangdong Province. Since 2008 the university has dispatched its first eight technical task forces (TTF) and then in 2009, it sent another 35 young teachers to enterprises in Guangzhou, and the assistants for TTFs increased to over 100. In the process of helping to develop new technology and products, TTFs and their assistants became strong technical and talent supports for the enterprises which were struggling against the financial crisis.
