"In this Place, Cumulus 2016” conference was held at Nottingham Trent University recently. Hunan University (HNU), as Cumulus member, attended the conference.
"In this Place” addressed how the importance of ‘place’ impacts the way in which we generate ideas, create and design. Five sub-themes were set, namely, Negotiating Artefacts, Innovation, Future Craft, Future Space, and Sustainability. Over 300 scholars and experts from more than 40 countries and regions attended the conference.
Dr. Wang Baosheng and Dr. Zhang Jun from HNU School of Design had their papers published on In this Place conference publication. Dr. Wang’s “The Potential of Rural Crafts in Promoting Community Empowerment through Participatory Design Intervention” was praised as Best Paper at the Future Craft sub-theme conference, while Dr. Zhang’s “Ya'an Grit Utensils Welfare Brand Business Model Innovation and Design Practice”, presented by Zhang Duoduo on behalf of Dr. Zhang, received applause at the site.
