Secretary of the CPC Hunan University Committee Jiang Changzhong attended the China-India University Presidents Roundtable and Indian President Pranab Mukherjee’s lecture at Peking University on May 26, 2016.

Principals from twelve top Chinese universities and eight Indian universities were present at the Roundtable, holding discussions on two topics, namely, “Scientific Research: To Build World Top University and Disciplines”, and “Education: Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship”.

Secretary Jiang delivered a speech themed with “top university should promote scientific research in accordance with strategic demands of the state”, which was widely recognized among the attendees.

Hunan University (HNU) and Indian Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) had acceded to a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation before.

Secretary Jiang and Dr. Narendra S. Chaudhari, member of VNIT advisory board, exchanged the official cooperation agreement that day on behalf of their respective universities in the presence of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Minister of Educatio of China Yuan Guiren.

HNU and VNIT, both members of BRICS Network University project, established academic contact at the first forum of the project at Ekaterinburg, Russia, on April 6, 2016.
