
The 6th Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition (CCPR) was convened in Changsha from November 17th to 19th. Prof. Wang Yaonan from College of Electrical and Information Engineering of HNU took the chair at the conference and Vice-President of HNU Cao Yijia addressed on behalf of HNU at the opening ceremony. Keynote speeches had been delivered by Zhang Bo, professor from Tsinghua University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jon Atli Benediktsson, Vice-President of University of Iceland, Prof. Chris H.Q. Ding from University of Texas and Prof. Zhou Zhihua from Nanjing University. Over 400 scholars from more than 100 colleges, research institutes and enterprises from home and abroad participated in the workshop and exchanged academic views.
As a basic intelligent capacity, pattern recognition is a leading interdisciplinary field between information sciences and recognition sciences. As we are embracing the age of Big Data, the research and application of Pattern Recognition has been under the spotlight and quite a great progress has been achieved in HNU. The opening was not only a full affirmation for the research in HNU but also a learning opportunity. The profound academic dialogues and exchanges of the experts and scholars in the meeting would surely push forward the prosperous development of the Pattern Recognition Research.
