




A 20-member delegation headed by the World Bank President Jim Yong Kim paid a visit to Hunan University in the company of Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance Shi Yaobing and Vice Governor of Hunan Province Li Youzhi on 9th, July.
The delegation visited Yuelu Academy accompanied by Secretary of the CPC HNU Committee Liu Keli and HNU Vice President Cao Yijia. Jim Yong Kim showed keen interest in the profound history and culture of Yuelu Academy with the introduction by Dean of the Academy Zhu Hanmin and Director of HNU International Exchange Division Zuo Quanwen. Later, in front of the model of Dosan Seowon Academy in South Korean, Liu keli presented a rubbing of the admonition for study of Yuelu Academy to Jim Yong Kim, and Jim Yong Kim also wrote an inscription in return to hail the long history and profound influence of Yuelu Academy and to express his gratitude for the hospitality of Hunan University.
During his stay, Dr. Kim invited the representative of South Korean students in HNU to join him for his tour of Yuelu Academy and the representative of American and Chinese students to enjoy the banquet.
Jim Yong Kim, 54 years old, is a Korean-American who is the 12th president of the World Bank since 2012. Jim moved with his family to the U.S. at the age of 5 and was formerly President of Dartmouth College, Chairman of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. During his third visit to China after his designation, he met President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing.
