
The ceremony for renewing the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Hunan University and the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) was held on March 14, during the China Study Abroad Forum (COSF) 2014 inaugurated at China World Hotel, Beijing. Cao Yijia, vice president of Hunan University attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
Leaders from the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China and over ten well-known university presidents as well as authorities of the professional institutions from UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Canada, etc presented at the forum, to share and explore ideas and experiences on the preparatory training for overseas study.
As a university included in the state’s "Project 211" (Chinese government’s new endeavor aimed at strengthening about 100 institutions of higher education and key disciplinary areas as a national priority for the 21st century) and "Project 985" (a constructive project for founding world-class universities in the 21st century conducted by Chinese government), Hunan University has long been taking the lead among domestic universities in promoting overseas study programs. Vice President Cao shared the experiences on overseas study and training programs with participants. He also put forward his suggestions for the future development mode and ideas on overseas study and training base, to insure a sustainable and sound development of the diversified and high-level overseas study programs.
The Overseas Study and Training Base of Hunan University was officially founded in March of 2011, after the university signed the strategic cooperation agreement with CSCSE. In this forum, CSCSE Director Che Weimin and Vice President Cao signed the renewed agreement for continuing strategic cooperation and jointly establishing overseas study and training base.
