At the 9th National Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition (Hunan Zone), 22 students out of 65 candidates from Hunan University won the first, second and third prizes. Liang Jiecun and Ma Danyang won the first prize in individual competition, marking a breakthrough of HNU in the competition.
The group competition consists of basic mechanics experiments and theory design & operation. A team from Hunan University won the second prize in basic mechanics experiment competition held from August 12 to 14 in Southwest Jiaotong University. Hunan University also won the winning prize in theory design & operation competition held from August 15-17 in Sichuan University.
The Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition is a nationwide science and technology competition for college students. It is jointly hosted by sub-committee of mechanics course teaching guidance committee of the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Zhou Peiyuan Foundation.
The biennial competition started in 1988, aiming to cultivate talents, improve teaching quality and provide a platform for college students to prove their basic knowledge and thinking ability.
