A University of Regina Confucius Institute delegation and a Colorado State University student delegation, consisting of 34 members, visited Hunan University (HNU) for Chinese language learning and cultural experience between May 11 and June 10. This visit tour was sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), and organized by the Confucius Institutes of these two universities, and HNU Confucius Institute. HNU College of Chinese Language and Literature assisted in arranging the delegations.

The delegates were grouped according to their Chinese language level. Each group had Chinese vocabulary and grammar lessons by teachers and instruments. Thirty-two HNU student volunteers in different majors and grades were designated to communicate with and help the delegates in their shopping or meal ordering in a one-to-one way, so as to strengthen their use of Chinese language.

The delegates had cultural courses, including Chinese calligraphy, tea art, martial art, traditional Chinese painting, and Huxiang culture lectures. They visited Yuelu Academy, Jinggang Ancient Town, and Zhangjiajie to get better understanding of Chinese culture. A cultural exchange party was held to show their skills and learning outcomes.
