The opening ceremony of the academic year 2020 for HNU freshman students was held on September 14. President Duan Xianzhong addressed the ceremony, and called for the students to “let your voices be heard by the world”.

Leaders and guests presented included Deng Wei, secretary of the CPC Hunan University Committee; Xu Jianjun, liaison officer of the Ministry of Education; Yu Ruqin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Science; and, HNU leaders Cao Shengyuan, Chen Wei, Xie Chi, Li Shutao, and Jiang Jianhui. Vice President Wang Weibin presided over the ceremony. Teacher representatives, persons in charge of student affairs, college managers, and freshman student instructors attended.
