The Kazakh version of the revised edition of Traditional Chinese Architecture and Its Cultural Conditions, written by Liu Su, professor of HNU School of Architecture and Planning, was recently published by the Oriental Literature Publishing House of Russia.
This monograph by Prof. Liu Su was first published by the Tsinghua University Press in 2014. In 2021, it was included in the "Silk Road Book Project", and translated into Polish and published by the renowned Polish academic publishing house Universitas. The revised edition in 2022 was shortlisted for the project again. The book highlights eight aspects of traditional Chinese culture which are closely related to architecture. It uses vivid and accessible depictions to explain the relationships between ancient Chinese architecture and politics, philosophy, religion, education, literature and art, lifestyle, folk culture, and regional cultures. It analyzes various cultural phenomena in architecture, thereby revealing the cultural connotations and background of the architectural works.
The Silk Road Book Project is a major initiative of China's press and publication authority under the national Belt and Road Initiative. It aims to accelerate the publication and distribution of high-quality Chinese books and Chinese language textbooks in the Belt and Road countries, establish platforms for copyright trading and publishing information between China and these nations, and foster a development framework featuring interconnected publishing resources, collaborative content development, and shared channels.
