From April 20 to 25, six faculty members and students from the Xiangjiang College of Elite Engineers, Hunan University, accompanied by the Xiangjiang Science and Technology Innovation Institute, traveled to Germany for a five-day study tour and exchange visit. During their tour, they explored industry giants, participated in an international trade fair, and promoted inter-university collaboration, broadening their international perspectives and honing their engineering skills through hands-on experience.
At Leica Group in Germany, the delegation observed the entire production process of high-end optical instruments up close and held discussions with engineers on precision manufacturing, intelligent sensing technology, and innovative product design, gaining valuable insights for their academic studies and project practices.
The Hannover Messe 2026 was a key stop of their tour. Themed "Shaping the Future with Technology Insights," the event brought together nearly 2,900 exhibitors from over 50 countries, showcasing cutting-edge technologies in such fields as industrial AI, intelligent robotics, and hydrogen energy. The students and faculty communicated actively with exhibitors and research institutions based on their own academic orientations, collecting first-hand technical materials and expanding their project development ideas through cross-disciplinary exchanges.
The delegation visited Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Germany. The university's representatives detailed their integrated education system combining theoretical instruction, enterprise practice, and innovation projects, and shared their experiences in talent cultivation in smart manufacturing and advanced manufacturing.
The Xiangjiang College of Elite Engineers at Hunan University, will leverage this study tour as an opportunity to absorb advanced experience, aiming to optimize its talent cultivation system, and foster deep integration of high-quality international resources with its education system and entrepreneurship project incubation.
