The first China City and University Development Forum, also a summit seminar of the City and University Coordinated Development and Innovation Alliance, was held in Changsha on November 9. More than 100 representatives from education, urban planning, and construction institutions attended.
Zhang Daliang, vice chairman of the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) and former director of the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education; Lai Mingyong, vice chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee; Jin Yongzhang, deputy director of the Hunan Department of Natural Resources; Deng Wei, secretary of the CPC HNU Committee; Cheng Shengkui, executive president of the China Society of Natural Resources; and, Shi Nan, executive president and secretary general of the China Association of City Planning, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Men Xiaoying, deputy director of the National Territorial Spatial Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources; and, Wu Zhiqiang, vice president of Tongji University, delivered speeches via videos.

The forum was hosted by CAHE, and organized by HNU and the Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions. It was a part of the 55th Higher Education Expo China. It focused on exploring sustainable and high-quality development, and internationalization, of cities and universities.
Concentrating on “City and University: Sustainable and High-quality Development”, three main reports and more than ten keynote lectures were given from various perspectives to interpret significance and channels of the interactions between city and university, and explore their collaborative development mode.
