Japanese prominent economist Shimada Haruo, president of Chiba University of Commerce (CUC), was bestowed the title of distinguished visiting professor of Hunan University (HNU) on April 15, 2016.

72-year-old Shimada Haruo was once a special advisor to Japanese Cabinet. He founded Shimada School for young entrepreneurs four years ago. On April 14, 2016, he visited Hunan with 13 students of his school, to get informed of Hunan’s economic and social development.

"China-Japan relations are very important, that’s why I taught myself Chinese language two years ago”, said Shimada Haruo at his lecture delivered in Chinese to Hunan University students on Chinese and Japanese Economies and China-Japan Exchange. China and Japan have complementary advantages in market, technology, investment, human resource, and education, therefore it’s important to enhance mutual understanding and establish cooperation relations based on mutual trust, he stated.
