Hosted by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, co-organized by the Hunan Provincial Science & Technology Department and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hunan Sub-council, and jointly supported by Hunan University, China-Italy Design & Innovation Center, and Markor Home Furnishings, the Design and Social Innovation Exhibition themed “Sharing Home Flavor” will be launched at Milano Expogate during the Hunan Week from June 19 to 23.
The exhibition will present achievements of social innovation practice in the New Tongdao (means Channel) project conducted by the School of Design of Hunan University. Eight special subjects including the New Tongdao, Paper-cut, Huayaohua (a brand with Huayao ethnic feature), Tongguan Kiln, Yucheng District of Ya’an City, Yuelu Academy, Home Style of Xinjiang, and Sky of Childhood will be staged by diversified culture carriers like images, products, visions, installations and sculptures.
Visitors can enjoy the creative design of Huayao ethnic culture and the charm of Hunan's regional culture via an interactive paper-cut book, virtual Yuelu Academy, Yang Opera for making wishes, Tongdao brocade, Huayao cross-stitch of Longhui, ceramics from Tongguan Kiln, black sand from Yingjing County of Ya’an, and paintings created by stay-at-home children.
Coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival, exhibition visitors can enjoy zongzi (a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves) and experience the culture of this Chinese traditional holiday.
