
The Forum on Design and Intercultural Communication Exchange on Silk Road was held at Hunan Library on the afternoon of July 5, 2015. Based on the ancient Silk Road design and research project undertaken by Hunan University, the event was aimed at studying the cultural exchange and integration of porcelain from the Changsha Kiln along the Silk Road. In addition to Hunan experts, scholars from top-tier universities in Iran and India were invited to reinterpret the Changsha Kiln and enable Hunan people to have a better understanding of local design and craft culture.
At the forum, Ravi Mokashi Punekar from the Indian Institute of Technology introduced the design style of traditional Indian handicrafts. Mohammad Abaei from Iran University of Science and Technology discussed the impact of the Silk Road on local design and culture. Professor Javad Zafarmand from Shiraz University analyzed the design strategy of the New Silk Road and how it promotes stable and sustainable relationships among Asian countries.
