The FSAE racing team of Hunan University (HNU) arrived in Germany recently to participate in the Formula Student Germany (FSG) competition from July 28 to August 2, competing with other top-rank racing teams from all over the world.

To prepare for the competition, the team studied the 2015 Formula Student Germany and 2015 Formula Student China and took the team’s actual condition into account, to make a retrofit to the racing car (HNU-2014) which took the crown in the 2014 FSC. After the retrofit, the team conducted tests in Changsha on June 5 and June 12, and then made a 1:1 imitation of the FSG racing track in the Dream Formula racing track of Xiangyang, Hubei during June 16 and July 1 where they had the racer trained and the racing car debugged.

After then, the racing car backed Changsha for a thorough examination and maintenance. In the evening of July 7, the racing car and related materials were encased and shipped to the Hockenheim track of Germany.

The racing car is numbered No.73 to show respect to the memorable No.73 racing car of the team which debuted in the United States and won the Best Newcomer Award in 2007. Moreover, this lucky number also indicates the expectation for a good result this time.

The HNU FSAE racing team was founded in 2006 as the first student FSAE racing team in Chinese mainland. It has participated in the International Student Formula Racing in the United States twice and achieved good results. Up to now, it has designed and produced 7 formula cars. In 2015, the Haima Automobile supported the team as the title sponsor, thus hence the name “HNU-Haima Automobile FSAE”.
