Two senior students of Hunan University (HNU) won the Silver Award in the 5th Global Competition on Systematic Innovation (GCSI) held in HKUST during July 15th to 17th.

Gui Ke and Chen Feixiang, majoring in mechanical design and manufacturing and automation in College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering of HNU, obtained their award in the project of “A Multipurpose Desk Used in Classroom”.

The award-winning project of HNU, instructed by Prof. Liu Jiangnan, received high praise from experts and judges for its innovative application of the systematic innovation theories and methods in the research and development of products.
Through this competition, Hunan University has strengthened exchanges across the straits and with other countries, and showcase its development in the teaching, scientific research and application of innovative methods.
The 5th GCSI is sponsored by the Society of Systematic Innovation and co-organized by the Hong Kong Innovation Society and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), attracting participants from China, Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal, Malaysia, Thailand, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Aiming at using innovative methods to recognize innovative opportunities and solve engineering problems, the GCSI attaches great importance to not only the results of technical schemes, but also the processes of applying knowledge to solve technical problems, the utilization of innovative methods, and the theoretical exploration and experience summary in terms of methodology.
