On April 2, Hunan University (HNU) President Zhao Yueyu met with Dr. Christina Yan Zhang, China Director of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Intelligence Unit. They had a discussion on internationalization of university, world university rankings and related issues. Also present were HNU Assistant President Yu Dejie, as well as principals from related colleges and departments of the university.

President Zhao briefed the guests about the university profile, characteristics of HNU’s education and research development as well as the orientation of its five-to-ten-year development. Zhao shared his idea over the internationalization of Chinese universities which should involve comprehensive internationalization in ideology, education system, exchange modes, faculty development and academic culture rather than merely personnel exchanges. Beyond that, he called for remaining open-minded instead of being confined to our own national cultural horizon.

Zhang expressed her appreciation for the achievements HNU has realized in recent years and briefly introduced the QS Intelligence Unit, with a focus on the indicators and methods of QS World University Rankings and the comprehensive certification systems of the QS StarsTM Rating System.
