On December 12, the invention patent of “Two-phase Inverter Power Supply System and its Comprehensive Control Methods” (Patent No. ZL201110209751.0) won the China Gold Patent Award at the 16th Ceremony for the WIPO-SIPO Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design in Beijing. This invention was initiated by Prof. Luo An and his team from College of Electrical and Information Engineering of HNU, and it was the first time for HNU to win such honor.
The invention tackles the key technological difficulties in two-phase electromagnetic stirring power supply in special steel smelting. With 29 papers published in SCI journals, the team is highly appreciated by the international renowned scholars and their technological competence has reached international standards.
Based on the national strategy on high technology-based industrialization, Prof. Luo’s team has laid emphasis on actively promoting the industrialization transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The sales volume of such patented power supply equipments has reached 1.44 billion Yuan, covering over 120 enterprises from home and abroad like Baosteel Group, Beijing Shougang Company, Wuhan Iron and Steel Group, Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group, Hebei Iron and Steel Group, and gaining 70% market share. It has promoted the development of related industrial chain and realized a great leap forward in the high power supply technology and equipment for special steel smelting in China.
