In December 31, 2014, a New Year’s Eve celebration was hosted by HNU Overseas Study Center in Lushan Hotel in Changsha. HNU Vice-President Cao Yijia attended the event, greeting the new year with over 300 international students in the university and the teachers from the Center.

The international students enjoyed a buffet and held a New Year’s Eve party. Various Hunan cuisines were provided at the buffet, to provide an authentic Chinese experience and make the students away from families feel at home.

Li Long (Chinese name) from Laos preluded the New Year’s Eve party with a song “The outside world”; Zhao Deyan (Chinese name) from Thailand performed on guitar while singing; a traditional Thai dance by all the international students was the highlight of the party; and the students from Cameroon won appreciative applause with a duet song named “Friends”.

Besides, an award ceremony for the outstanding student cadres was arranged. And the international students wrote down their new year wishes for the next year on a wish wall.

President Cao Yijia delivered a New Year address at the party. He said, Hunan University is a big family for the international students. He hoped the students would cherish their time in China and experience the unique charm of Chinese culture by heart.
