Hunan University was honored with two National Science& Technology Awards at the Award Conference convened on the morning of 9th, hosted by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

The team lead by Prof. Tan Weihong received the second prize of the National Natural Science Award with their “Methodology Research on Nucleic Acid Molecular Recognition and Biosensing”, and the team headed by Prof. Luo An won the second prize of National Technological Invention Award with their research on “Special High Power Supply Technology and Equipment for Metallurgy and its Application”.

The 2014 National Science& Technology Award Conference honored 318 projects, 8 scientists and 1 international organization. One scientist won the Nation’s Top Science& Technology Award; 46 projects received the National Natural Science Awards among which one got first prize and 45 got second prizes; 70 projects were granted the National Technological Invention Awards with 3 first-prize winners and 67 second-prize winners.

Since the beginning of the 12th Five-Year Plan, HNU has acquired 6 National Science& Technology Awards, tying for the 10th place among Chinese universities.
