The Ministry of Education has preapproved the application of Hunan University for its four online video courses as national level quality open courses. The four courses are “From the natural world to the era of intellect” lectured by Prof. Li Zhiyong from College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, “Charming mathematics in economic life” by Prof. Yang Xiangyu from College of Mathematics and Econometrics, “Standards and daily life” by Prof. Hou Junjun from School of Economy & Trade, and “Chemistry and energy” by associate Prof. Xu Feng from College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The latter two courses have been released on www.icourses.cn.

The National Quality Video Course is one of the key projects on undergraduate education during the twelfth Five-Year Plan period. It mainly serves college students but also gives the public access to free online video courses and academic lectures on scientific and cultural education. From 2012 to 2014, Hunan University has received approval for 6 courses as national quality video courses, and 22 as national quality resource sharing courses.
