HNU Hold Culture Communication with Taiwan Scholars

On September 9th, “Hunan-Taiwan History & Culture Forum—A Millennium University Approach To Taiwan” was launched in Taipei. It was jointly co-hosted by Hunan University and Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. The experts from both sides of the Taiwan Straits held an academic and cultural communication centering on history, culture and economics of Hunan and Taiwan.
The Forum as an important part of The 10th Hunan-Taiwan Exchange and Cooperation Conference on Economy, Trade and Culture, was hosted by Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government. The HNU delegation, an only representative of Hunan’s universities, was headed by its President Zhao Yueyu, and consisted of representatives from eight colleges including Yuelu Academy, Law School, College of Finance and Statistics, School of Design, College of Journalism and Communication & Film and Television Arts, College of Marxism Studies, College of Chinese Language and Literature and School of Economy & Trade.
Hunan Governor Du Jiahao addressed the forum. He stressed that HNU, originating from Yuelu Academy, is the academic center of Chinese traditional culture and the origin place of Hunan culture. He believed that this forum would further promote the cultural exchange and cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan.
President Zhao Yueyu delivered a keynote speech on the topic of “Hunan People, Hunan Culture, and Hunan Affection” and depicted the history as well as the present development of culture and academic exchange between HNU and Taiwan. He hoped that the cooperation and communication between HNU and Taiwan would go further for mutual promotion of Hunan and Taiwan Culture, the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nationality and compiling a new chapter of a more brilliant and glorious prosperity of China.
Deans of the college of HNU as well as over 10 Taiwan experts, like former Secretary-General of Straits Exchange Foundation Jiao Renhe, Chief Director of Museum of Taiwan History Zhang Yuteng, Professor Huang Cheng from Graduate Institute of Political Science of Taiwan Normal University, and President of Taiwan Communication Management Association Yang Zhihong, presented at the forum and discussed about education, academy, and culture of both sides.
More than 100 principals, scholars and students from both Hunan and Taiwan attended the forum, including Vice-Governor of Hunan Province Li Youzhi, officials from Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Taiwan Affairs Office of Hunan Province, Hunan Federation of Industry and Commerce, Development and Reform Commission of Hunan Province, Hunan Broadcasting System, as well as personnel from Taiwan Academic and cultural circle, and the Hunan students studying in Taiwan.
During their stay in Taiwan, HNU delegation took part in the academic and cultural exchange activities with Taiwan Central University, Soochow University, Shin Hsin University, Ming Chuan University, etc.
