The Second International Conference on Advances in Chemically-activated Materials, CAM’2014, co-hosted by Hunan University, Nanjing University of Technology, Central South University and State Key Laboratory of Green Building Material, was held in Hunan University from June 1st to 3rd.

Centering on the raw materials, admixtures, design of mix proportion, working performance, durability and application of chemically-activated materials, the conference attracted world famous experts to deliver speeches, including Dr. Angel Palomo from Spanish National Research Institute of Building Science, Prof. J. S. J.van De Venture from University of Melbourne, Prof. John. L. Provis from University of Sheffield, Prof. J. Iván Escalante García from Mexico, Prof. Shi Caijun from Hunan University and Prof. Zhang Wensheng from China Building Material Academy.

Over 60 experts and scholars from more than 10 countries and regions like China, America, Britain, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, France and Japan attended the conference, discussed their latest research results with each other during the event. After the conference, representatives of the attendees visited the Green Building Material Institute of College Of Civil Engineering of Hunan University, and highly appraised Prof. Shi Caijun for his laboratory and research outcome.

The conference proceedings was co-edited by Prof. Shi Caijun of Hunan University and Prof. Sheng Xiaodong of Nanjing University of Technology, and published by the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM, from the name in French).
