On 23rd of March, mass-election in Hunan for 2012-2013 "Bright Sport Cultural Journey for Overseas Students in China" was launched in Changsha, with participation from 50 overseas students from 5 universities.
Wang Hongbing, head of International Exchange Office of Hunan Education Department, said that this overseas students sport meeting aims at promoting their understanding of traditional Chinese cultural and Hunan customs and folk culture as well as to enhance friendship between Chinese and overseas students.
"It is a great activity, which not only improves our physical health but also allows us to make good friends from different countries," said Pace, a Slovakian girl, trying her best to speak Chinese with proper tones, who studies Chinese language in Hunan Normal University.
This mass-election consists of two parts, namely athletic and cultural contests. The organizing committee of the contest has the responsibility of identifying three teams as winners that will go on to participate in national finals to be held from Apr. 5 to 11, 2013.
After a day of fierce competition, Hunan University won the championship.
