On October 26, a delegation of Colorado State University paid a visit to Hunan University (HNU) and had a discussion with the university leaders on future bilateral cooperation.
HNU and Colorado State University officially established cooperation and exchange tie in Oct. 2009. In the past three years, a total of 24 students in three batches have been sent to Colorado State University for double degrees. In May this year, the Confucius Institute of Colorado State University, with joint efforts of the two sides, was approved by NOCFL (Confucius Institute Headquarters) and will officially open soon.
HNU President Zhao Yueyu extended a warm welcome to the guests and highly appraised the efforts and achievements for the cooperation and exchange between the two sides. Mr. Zhao briefed the delegation on HNU’s three development orientations. The first is to promote Chinese culture relying on Yuelu Academy and spread it to the world via Confucius Institutes. The second is to develop the supercomputer center with government supports. The third is to intensify groundless framework of life medical research. He hoped that the two universities will expand and deepen cooperation in future.
Henry Miranda, executive vice president of Colorado State University, reviewed the cooperation projects in the past three years such as the “2＋2” undergraduate student exchange project. He showed great interest in projects President Zhao suggested. As Colorado State University owns obvious advantages in supercomputing and biological science, cooperation potentials would be explored for the two sides in such fields, he said.
