The “Oil Cleaning Guard”, designed by four students at the School of Design, Hunan University, won the first prize in the sustainability category of the 12th Well-Tech (WT) Award held in Italy, and was showcased at the Milan City Hall during the 2012 Milan Design Week. The innovation, designed by Hu Ting, Li Ran, Zhao Xiaoyang and Zhu Yi to solve the problems of oil spills at sea, stood out at the 2nd Lotus Cup International Industrial Design Innovation Competition.
The WT Award is jointly sponsored by the Milan City Hall, the Italian Technological Innovation Research Organization, the Milan Chamber of Commerce and Polytechnic University of Milan. Every year, sixty innovations that distinguish themselves internationally for technological innovation are candidates for the annual edition of WT Award, including first prizes in three categories like sustainability and the Milan Special Award. Milan Design Week is one of world’s top three design exhibitions. The “Oil Cleaning Guard” will be collected by Italy’s dedicated design museum after the exhibition.
