


On May 18, four British professors were invited to visit School of Design of Hunan University (HNU) and Hunan Innovation Platform for Industrial Design, after attending the “Sino-UK Higher Education Collaboration on Upcycling of Industry Left-overs”. The professors are Jane Penty, professor of London Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in Britain; Stephen Green, professor of College of Art & Design of Brunel University; Bruce Wood, professor of College of Art & Design of Leeds University and Jeremy Bradley, professor of London Metropolitan University.
Prof. He Renke, president of HNU School of Design and chairman of the Hunan Industrial Design Association, introduced the remarkable achievements of the school in design research and teaching, international cooperation, Zhongyi Design Creative Center in Hunan, innovation platform, as well as cooperation projects and the fruits such as ‘Lotus Cup’ International Industrial Design & Innovation Competition. In addition, the two sides communicated about the experiences in industrial design teaching and course system.
The British guests highly praised the digitization of design teaching, ‘Lotus Prize’ Design Competition and ‘New Channel’ Social Creative Design of HNU School of Design, and expressed keen interest in the international cooperation center as Zhongyi Design Creative Center. They are willing to expand cooperation among the colleges in China and Britain on teaching and research of industrial design, as they indicated.
