The U.S. Gatan Company recently declared that Liu Chunhui, a PHD student enrolled into the School of Material Science and Engineering of Hunan University in 2009, has won its 2011 scholarship worth 15,000 Yuan for his achievement and potential in electron microscopy research.
The U.S. Gatan Company is the biggest manufacture of electron microscopy accessory in the world and has set up a scholarship for Chinese students who show talent and potential in the electron microscopy field. Liu’s achievement reflects that HNU has received international recognition for the research in electron microscopy as well as its quality of graduate students training.
The High-resolution Electron Microscope Center that Liu studies in is a university-level public experimental platform of HNU. The center currently owns High-end equipment like Tecnai F20 FETEM (Field Emission Transmission Electron Microscopy), Japanese electronics 3010 HRTEM (High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy) and Hitachi H800 TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and is equipped with 6700F FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy), Quanta 200 ESEM (Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy), a full set of sampling equipment and a group for computing. All of these full-equipped and advanced software and hardware facilities in the center provide guarantee for students’ effective scientific research.
